Personal Statement
Have you ever felt lost or like you want to talk but have no where to go? Or have you ever been told to just "buck up" or "get over it" but you just can't? This is where I come in. I believe that people do have innate strengths and tools they can use to navigate through life's stages and transitions. Sometimes, challenges arise and support is needed to get through them. I feel privileged and honored to help clients empower themselves to make it through tough times and ultimately form healthier relationships. I feel this process of change in therapy is unique to each individual and begins by clients identifying what they want to see change in their lives and then developing new skills and healthy attitudes about themselves and others. I am committed to providing strategies and insight to individuals, couples, and families that will create a greater sense of self-awareness and improve their communication in relationships. I also believe the therapist-client alliance is especially important to create an egalitarian and collaborative relationship throughout the treatment process.
My specialties include sex therapy, dysfunction & intimacy concerns, alternative sexual lifestyles, sexuality related to physical disabilities & concerns, GLBTQ, sexual trauma & unwanted sexual experiences.
Seeking therapy is a courageous decision. It's tough asking for help when "just get over it" goes through our minds. I tell people it's OK to get support and commit myself to being trustworthy & compassionate.
