Yesenia Carrillo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Nevada. Yesenia graduated from the School of Social Work at Loyola University Chicago in 2014 with her Masters in Social Work degree with a Clinical and Child and Family focus. She acquired her Master of Science in Child Development from Erikson Institute in Chicago in 2013 with a focus on families and child development for children 0-18. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Yesenia worked with children and families for over 10 years in Chicago's underprivileged communities through Head Start programs as both a Home Visitor and Case Manager and worked 4 years providing clinical services to adults and children in home and office settings in a Chicago suburb. Yesenia's areas of expertise include family therapy, children and adolescents with behavior issues, phase of life changes, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety and depression, and counseling for victims and survivors of domestic violence. Yesenia has led parenting groups focused on positive discipline practices as well as socialization groups for young children and their families.
Yesenia is continuously seeking to gain skills within her practice in order to continue providing clients the best therapeutic experience using their own strengths and abilities. Yesenia's treatment approaches include Humanistic, Relational, Mindfulness, Attachment-based family therapy, play therapy CBT, and Existential therapy, which is a "positive approach that applauds human capacities and aspirations while simultaneously acknowledging human limitations". She believes that every situation has hope for resolution given the guidance and compassion that people need to form their paths, thus empowering them to be the best version of themselves.
