About

I am Katia Meredith, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with 9 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings, including outpatient, community mental health, inpatient and crisis counseling. My passion is supporting my clients in their journey to overcome depression, trauma, grief, and other stressful life events to achieve their individual goals. My approach In my practice, I use a client-centered approach with the goal of empowering my clients with confidence in themself. I believe that when seeking therapy, clients should expect to feel validated, supported, heard and understood. My focus I have a passion for working with adults struggling with history of trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, or simply needing someone to listen and offer support with any life issue. My communication style I invite my clients to lead the conversation by using open-ended questions, reflective listening, and Motivational Interviewing techniques. Previous clients have expressed that my voice is "very soothing" and that I "listen and guide like a true friend". My journey to mental healthcare Ever since I can remember, I knew I wanted to be in some form of helping profession. Initially, I thought I would go into medicine, and when I entered college, I believed that medical school was in my future. However, while taking psychology courses in college, and learning about the field of mental health, I became more and more interested in how mental health struggles affect overall quality of life. Simultaneously, I also embarked on my own therapy journey, which was instrumental in my ability to love and embrace myself. Seeing my own healing solidified my interest in mental health as a profession, which I decided to explore further after college by accepting a position as a residential assistant in an in-patient facility, and subsequently enrolling in a Master's in mental health counseling program at Lipscomb University. My goals for you In the beginning of work with clients,
