I am a Board Certified Clinical Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. I am based in north Alabama. I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work with clinical licensure and 32 years of experience working with individuals of all ages, couples, and families. My work has included dealing with many issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, gender dysphoria, trauma and more complex mental health issues like schizophrenia and other thought disorders.
As a therapist, I believe the relationship with the client is of utmost importance. My role as a therapist is to help clients establish their own treatment goals and encourage self- determination. I value the individuality of each person and their courage to work toward improving their life.
I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, unless trauma is involved. In that case, I usually use Cognitive Processing Therapy. In addition to these therapeutic modalities, I also use psychoeducational materials. Often homework assignments are utilized between sessions.
Therapeutic change is often not easy, especially thought and behavioral changes. In some cases it has been a lifetime of unhealthy thinking taking place. It is possible with a willingness to take things one step at a time. If you are ready to start that journey I am here to assist and empower you.
