My name is Aaron Hanlin and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) working as a therapist in Birmingham, Alabama. I have experience working with a diverse population of individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, substance use issues, grief, trauma and difficult experiences, current family and family of origin problems, immigration related issues, LGBTQ issues, issues related to health and disability, and a variety of other issues and problems. I have been working also with individuals living with HIV for the last three years and practice in both English and Spanish.

I believe in working collaboratively with my clients, as no one knows you better than you do. I think the foundation of a working therapeutic relationship is built on respect and valuing the dignity and worth of every person. I enjoy talking to people and hearing their stories, as every person has unique story, history, and perspective on the world. I have a person-centered approach, and incorporate elements of motivational interviewing and existential therapy. I believe that I can work effectively with people of any race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
