About
Music came first – then counseling. In college, I started my post-secondary endeavors with a music performance degree. After graduation, I opened a music teaching studio for six years. I returned to school and, in 2016, obtained my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, New Brunswick, Canada. I began my counseling career working with immigrants who experienced torture and trauma in their homeland. This position allowed me to travel to areas like Jordan, Lebanon, and Sweden where I worked with refugees on a short-term basis. This was both challenging and fulfilling work. There is no cookie-cutter approach with me. After receiving my Master’s degree, I gravitated toward working with adults who are struggling with various issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, personality disorder features, interpersonal relationship disturbances, trauma, addictions, grief, and varying crises. I learned that every individual is unique, and as such, I address this uniqueness by integrating various psychological modalities. These approaches include Emotionally Focused Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and raising emotionally healthy children program by the Gottman Institute.
