Hi!

My name is Vielka and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Massachusetts (LMFT). I have been working in mental health field since 2012. I have experience conducting individual, and family therapy, in-office, in the home, and online settings with clients presenting with a board range and severity of clinical issues. However, I have the most experience working with depression, anxiety, Autism, a wide range of challenges within family relationship/blended families/parenting struggles, teen concerns, as well as personal growth, adjustment issues, and crisis.

I understand that there is still a lot of stigma surrounding mental health issues, and how the process can feel very overwhelming, frustrating and lonely. I also understand that it takes a lot of courage and motivation to reach out for support therefore, I feel honored to be allowed the privilege to be a part of someone's personal experiences and thus take on my responsibility very serious when working with individuals. In my work I have come to understand that our problems and feelings are very unique to each and everyone of us, therefore my job is not to "fix" anyone, but instead my job is to come together with my clients in a person-centered approach in order to address and overcome the challenges that they are facing, together. This means that I make consistent efforts to meet each client "where they are" and to serve as a catalyst to each individual who is progressing through their unique process. In short: if I am doing my job the way it should be done, it will look like I am doing nothing at all.

In my work with clients, I consider myself eclectic. Therefore my therapeutic approach consist of first and foremost being Culturally sensitive and then: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Structural Therapy, depending again where my clients are at.

My Educational Credentials include:
- Licensed by the State of Massachusetts (Board of Allied Mental Health)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Training (PESI)
- Narrative Therapy Training (Narrative Therapy Initiative)
- Motivation Interviewing Training
- Race Matters Training (Dr. Ken Hardy)

For my professional growth, I continuously read related literature, keep myself up to date with ethical and legal guidelines in the field and the latest research and attend conferences and trainings
