Choosing a therapist who is the right fit is an important decision. Clients who come to see me are ready to make a change in their lives, however small or large, and are committed to the non-linear process that this may entail. My name is Maeve Young, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Therapist in the State of New Jersey. I received my Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and with diverse experiences in both the private practice and community mental health settings, I now specialize in treating adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Many of my clients also wish to process family conflicts, childhood memories and build self esteem. My style is eclectic, often drawing from cognitive and dialectical behavioral strategies. I draw on the mind-body connection, and frequently teach you the scientific reasons behind different emotional states you may have, with the goal of helping you feel more in control of your experience.

While you are the expert in your experience, my role is to empathically guide you towards your best self using the tools and knowledge gained in my training. The brain’s capacity for healing is incredible, thus I believe that no matter how broken you may think you are, all of us have what we need inside of us to heal, and you may just need a little help to access this. You are always in control of the pace of change, and my approach will be customized to you, whether you simply need someone to listen and validate your feelings, or to take a more directive and hands-on approach.

It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help, so above all else, my job is to make it easier by providing a warm, professional, and safe atmosphere where you can be confident that you will not be judged for what you share. It is always an honor to learn your story, and I look forward to helping you get where you want to go.
