About
Good day! My name is Victoria Serrano and I am happy that you are reaching out for support! Here is the information you are looking for: I obtained a Masters Degree in Psychology in 1992. I am licensed as a Professional Counselor (KY LPCC # 165648) as well as a Clinical Addictions Counselor (KY LCADC #170488). I've been working to support and empower those in need for over 25 years. I think that speaks to my dedication and fulfillment in the field. I have worked with a very diverse population as well as in a variety of settings. I have worked in residential, inpatient, outpatient, government, and private sectors. I have worked with people from all walks of life. I truly believe we exist in one global community and as such, are obligated to support and lift our neighbors who are in need. We are stronger together.
I am very comfortable addressing issues around depression, anxiety, relationships, substance addiction, goal-setting, trauma, adoption, LGBTQ, and women-specific challenges. My methods are drawn from evidence-based theories such as Cognitive-Behavioral, Dialectical-Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness Theory. I am also experienced with facilitating basic muscle relaxation and healing imagery methods. Which strategies we utilize will depend upon your needs and personality. My style allows the client to do more of the talking , while I provide feedback, guidance, empowerment and empathy. Therapy must be tailored to each individual client.
I believe a successful therapeutic partnership is based on mutual respect and honesty. Therapy must be non-judgmental and compassionate. Ethical boundaries and privacy are of utmost importance. In my experience, it typically takes weeks, months, and even years of struggling with dysfunctional patterns before someone actually reaches out for help. So again, good for you! I understand that ittakes courage and determination to open up to a stranger about personal matters. An objective person is often exactly what we need to understand and help. Family and friends are a wonderful source of support, but sometimes our stress involves these individuals and getting a clear, objective and confidential opinion can be the key.
I sincerely hope you find the help you are looking for. Feel free to connect with me if you have any questions. Whoever you choose to work with, make sure you feel respected, heard, and supported. Everyone deserves that.
Regards, V Serrano
