They seek counseling for their own benefit and improvement, rather than because others suggested/encouraged/required it. Finally, they understand that the therapeutic process takes time and energy and are dedicated to that commitment; they do not expect a ""quick fix."" I focus most of my practice on a person-centered approach of mindfulness & wellness-based counseling interventions. Research has shown that these both assist in reducing the effects of depression, anxiety, stress, anger, trauma, panic, chronic pain, and eating disorders, among many other symptoms.
