My name is Vanessa Gonzalez LMFT. I strongly believe that each person has was it takes internally to achieve their goals and just require some assistance to facilitate change. I believe all children can develop social emotional skills to effectively communicate their needs. I am familiar with the use and skills of Trauma Focused CBT, Cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness skills, parenting skills, as well as other modalities. My approach I believe communication and misunderstanding of expression of thoughts and feelings is where errors can begin to occur. I believe effective communication is one of the ultimate skills to learn as well as control of our own thoughts , relaxation skills to assist on in calming ourselves to make better choices and learning skills to assist with all the emotions we may experience. My focus My focus when working with others is children, adolescents, and parenting skills to provide the most growth for the youth. I have a history of working closely with foster youth, children in kinship Care, as well as children in a traditional home setting. I have worked with children experiencing anxiety, trauma, children living with ADHD, grief, separation, and divorce. My communication style I would like to provide each individual with a safe non judgemental space. I also like to set up the environment as fun, educational, and understanding. The best part of working with children and youth is being able to meet them where they are at and allow them to feel heard and understood. My journey to therapy Originally as a young adult I took the path of working with adults and children with special needs as well as in the school setting working with children as a behavior interventionist. I continue my path gearing my education towards becoming a teacher , a special education teacher.
