Hello. My name is Valerie Turner-Harris. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio. Congratulations on taking a courageous step toward self-care, personal development and healing. The decision to reach out for counseling can be daunting. Especially when you just want to find a good match - someone who really understands you and has an approach that meets your needs.

I work specifically with people who find themselves repeatedly engaged in unfulfilling and even toxic relational patterns as a result of unhealed relational wounds. They desire healthier and more deeply connected relationships with others but find themselves struggling with difficult and sometimes overwhelming feelings like fear, resentment, guilt, shame, isolation or detachment as they attempt to build interpersonal connections. Have painful relationship experiences in your past given rise to lingering insecurity and trust issues in your present relationships? With over 20 years as a master leveled counselor, working in community mental health and private practice, I offer an authentic, empathetic, and a collaborative way of being with clients. Utilizing an integrative, trauma-informed and individualized approach, I have treated clients who have been impacted by a variety of issues such as family conflict, abuse, neglect, codependency, depression and anxiety. I believe that having one's experiences validated so that they may be seen, known and accepted as a whole person is at the heart of healing from painful and often complex life circumstances. The foundation for being understood in this way comes from having safe and reliable relationships while recognizing that the one constant relationship that drives all others is the one we have with ourselves.
