I am a licensed independent social worker (LISW) in Iowa with 7 years of experience working as a mental health therapist. I have spent the majority of my social work career in the community mental health setting. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, LGBT issues, OCD, and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.
My therapy style is client centered and supportive, however I will tailor my approach to the clients needs/wants for therapy. I am trained in various modalities that include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels.
