Hello and welcome! My name is Tonya Burton and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I currently have 8 years of professional work in the field of counseling and mental health. I specialize in clinical areas of stress and anxiety, depression, coping with grief and loss, relationship and family issues, interpersonal development, self esteem, and phase of life issues. My clinical training includes earning a Master of Science (M.S.) in Counseling as well as a Master of Divinity (M.Div.). I use a variety of therapy approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. I also use Mindfulness-based and trauma-based interventions. Much of my clinical experience is varied across settings working with adolescents, adults, and families in private practice, agencies, and community-based settings.

I believe that you are the expert of your story and possess many strengths to assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. I know when life gets hard, the struggle is real. When you're struggling it can impact how you feel about yourself and the way you interact with others. Sometimes we are not our best selves even when we want to be. Taking the first step to get the help you need is an act of courage.
