About

My name is Todd Bryant. I have been married for 36 years and have three grown children. My children have blessed me with two wonderful grand-children, a little boy and a little girl whom are my brightest joys. I taught and coached in the Texas public education system for 27 years. I worked with kids everyday to push them to be their best and I take that same kind of passion to help my clients in counseling. I often hear from my students, on Facebook usually, thanking me for the help and support during high school years. Many of them feel that I helped them become the people they are today, able to handle the curve balls of today's life and society.

I have worked in mental health for 6+ years. I went back to college in 2012 and got my Masters in Counseling Education and graduated from Texas Tech University n 2015. I began my work in substance abuse abuse where I worked in an in-patient facility here in Lubbock. During that time worked with clients that had severe issues with substance abuse because they were lacking in coping skills to deal with their anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. I facilitated individual counseling along with group counseling and taught psycho-educational material such as coping with stress, breathing techniques for anxiety, identifying stressor, relapse prevention, and other such materials. Along with those duties, I completed client assessments and intakes, developed treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-ups with each client in my caseload. I then worked in an out-patient facility where I performed the same types of task as I did I the in-patient facility. I then went to work for the Lubbock County Detention Center. I worked closely with the Sheriff's Department in identifying inmates who had suicidal or homicidal ideations, providing them with a safe haven within the Center. The inmates and myself worked on safety plans to keep that individual safe until their court dates. I went to work for Texas Tech CMHC in early 2017. This was an intense place to work. John T Montford is a psychiatric prison ran be the Texas Department of Corrections. Here I worked with inmates with all sorts of issues and diagnosises. I work with the chronic population in the facility. Many of these inmates were "lifers", meaning they would never receive probation. I can not describe every little detail but I work with patients diagnosed with every type diagnosis known in the DSM 5. Anxiety, major depression, schizophrenia, suicidal, homicidal, trauma, PTSD, grief, etc. This was a great learning experience for me. Lastly, have worked the last couple of year as a part-time school counselor. During the COVID crisis I worked with students exhibiting depression, anxiety, substance abuse, suicidal ideations. I believe that compassion, empathy, and positive regard is important in the client/patient relationship. I have worked well with a diverse group of individuals from adolescents to the elderly. I have specialties in substance abuse, anxiety, depression, mental health, grief, and trauma. I tell my clients that, "I may not have walked specifically in your shoes but I know that we have walked around the same block".

I am 58 year old and have dealt with many different issues in my life as you are with yours. The methodology of my practice is based around Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT. I believe, in order to change how we feel feel, we must change the way we feel about our situations or find the positives of our situations. Other strategies I have used are Client-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I would love to help you out with your life issues...
