About
Hello. My name is Todd Hart, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I Have worked in mental health field for the last 12 years and have a background of working with substance use disorders. My approach What you can expect from me in therapy is an honest, ethical, down to earth, and realistic approach. I want to help give you the best possible outcome that you can have. I am not your traditional therapist and want to help give you a newer, better approach to making the changes that you want and need in your life. My main theoretical approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but I often use other theoretical approaches based on the client's needs. My focus I enjoy working with all types of clients. I have a lot of experience working with clients who experience anxiety, depression, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders. I have a special interest in working with current Military Personnel, Veterans, First Responders, Public Safety, Health Care, and other Emergency Workers. My communication style Simply put, I attempt to create a space where clients can go and feel safe and be comfortable discussing issues that are not always easy to talk about. I try to create a space that the client wants to come to and where they feel welcome, heard, and understood. It also important to interject a lighthearted approach where appropriate. My journey to mental healthcare I started my journey into the mental health field in 2007 after I sustained a career ending injury and I was force to medically retire. I was police officer for over 23 years and during that time I did a lot of peer counseling and counseling of the public. I saw firsthand so many people who struggled with mental health issues. After talking to a friend who was becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist the thought of becoming a therapist seemed like a great fit for me.
