I have been practicing as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker for 8 years. I am also licensed in North Dakota as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My experience during that time has been varied. I was an Employee Assistance therapist whereby my primary practice model was Solution Focused therapy and a fair amount of couples counseling. I've also worked in a community mental health capacity conducting primarily individual therapy but also running a group. I utilized several approach's including CBT, solution focused, narrative, and focus on chemical dependency issues (including co-dependency). Areas of concern included depression, anxiety, personality disorders, SPMI, chemical dependency, and criminal court concerns. I've also conducted therapy exclusively for military personnel, helping with the unique challengers presented to that population. I garnered significant experience helping folks overcome depression, anxiety, stress/trauma, and overall adjustment to life change.
I approach therapy from the perspective of everyone can do better than their current circumstance. We cannot control life's problems, we can however, garner the courage to seek help to overcome these problems and improve ourselves. I enjoy assisting people in doing so and finding their "ah-hah" moments in life's journey. The therapeutic alliance is paramount in helping a patient achieve their overall goals and also to enhance the therapists overall ability to help the patient grow and develop.
