About
Hello! My name is Thomas Youngberg, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have worked in mental health, at some capacity, for over 17 years, and have officially been state-licensed since 2016. My biggest passion is working with individuals, especially those with trauma (PTSD), so that they may return to their optimal living level of life. I strongly believe that we all inherently have the capability of change! Change is difficult, scary, and most of all, necessary to move on from whatever mental health barriers are keeping you from achieving all that you would like in life. I practice from a patient-focused foundation; meaning, I will work with you to achieve your goals through a collaborative process that puts you in the driver’s seat of steering where therapy goes. Obviously, I will help navigate this journey, and will most definitely help you establish and meet your treatment goals. Moreover, I believe that any treatment must be patient-driven because if you are not the one making the goals and plans for your treatment, it is likely that you will not be motivated to meet your treatment goals. Collaboration means that I will not be absent from your treatment planning, rather, I will be there to guide you through identifying what your most urgent and lasting needs are throughout the course of treatment. As stated earlier, my primary area of treatment is PTSD, wherein I use a variety of modalities to work with patients to identify their primary trauma stressors/traumas, and then proceed with what would most likely be the use of EMDR. Additionally, I work with all common mental health diagnoses, such as: anxiety, depression, Bipolar, ADHD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and so forth. Throughout the years of my clinical work, I have worked with most ages, generally starting at about 5 years of age through whatever age one may be in their lifespan. I also specialize in ADHD, Conduct Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder in children/youth/teenagers.
