About
Hi there, I'm Thomas! Hello, my name is Tom Putnam and I'm a licensed professional counselor (LPC). I have been licensed as a professional counselor for over 10 years and have a passion for helping others to make positive change in their lives and to overcome challenges and barriers. As a counselor, I help to empower my clients to gain insight into their emotional challenges, develop practical coping skills, and foster a greater sense of self-awareness and resilience. My approach One of the theoretical approaches that I find to be useful for clients is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This theory is grounded in the belief that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected and that by addressing and reshaping negative thought patterns and behaviors, we can achieve positive emotional and behavioral change. I also use other approaches, such as Humanistic theory which is rooted in the belief of the inherent worth and potential for growth within each individual. I provide a non-judgmental and empathetic space where clients can explore their feelings, experiences, and personal values freely. My focus My client-focus is on cultivating a strong therapeutic relationship characterized by trust, comfort, and security. I believe that the foundation of effective counseling lies in creating a safe and supportive space where clients can openly share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns without fear of judgment. I have effective experience in working with individuals who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction issues, divorce, and many other challenges. My communication style By actively listening, empathizing, and providing targeted and constructive dialogue, I focus on creating an atmosphere where clients feel understood and respected. This sense of safety and trust serves as the bedrock upon which clients can explore their inner world, confront challenges, and embark on a path of self-discovery and healing.
