About

Hi there, I'm Thomas! Hello, and thank you, My name is Tom Pugel, and I'm a licensed MFT. Together, we can navigate your unique experience(s) and create the catalyst for real change. I have over 20 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and older adults, with anxiety, depression, and trauma. My approach I listen a lot; this wheel is always turning. Together, we'll look at your life map, the old paths, and the new (yet to be) ones. There are many helpful tools (perhaps some you already have), and I have many. Let's see which ones fit you the best. There's a reason why there are so many in the toolbox. I make use of a combination of Cognitive, Interpersonal, Mindfulness, and Experiential therapies. My focus I work with a wide age range (10-90+). My experience is treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and those effects on relationships. It's amazing how much our quality of life improves once a core issue (like anxiety or trauma) is treated effectively. My communication style I'm like a big ear. For me, to listen to you... is more important than seeing. Sometimes I am a mirror, and other times a conductor bee. To help you effectively, I must be able to float, between these abilities, efficiently. We can build a boat to get you to where you want to go. And I can get you safely into the boat. But only after you decide to. The decision is yours. My journey to mental healthcare Growing up, I saw a lot of brokenness in many social circles. An adult has more capacity to effect meaningful change in a hard situation. Kids in bad situations don't have as much capacity or choice; that's a sad thing. But then, as adults, we can also be faced with giants and terrifying beasts. It can be scary to face that alone. I'm here to walk that journey with you. We can only heal the world, one person at a time. My goals for you After my Assessment, where I get an overall picture, from you, of what you have lived through, and now (thinking about counseling).
