My name is Theresa Hoey, LCSW and I am a therapist with years of experience helping people overcome the challenges of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, OCD, and more. Through evidenced-based therapies and a compassionate approach, I work with patients to develop effective coping strategies, learn their strengths, and build resilience. I aim to mirror the goodness that is already within you to help you achieve a more fulfilling life. My approach I aim to use an empathetic approach to therapy in order to create a safe and supportive environment for patients to explore challenging emotions. Some of my approaches are (but not limited to) CBT, DBT, ACT, IFS, mindfulness-based approach, humanistic therapy, psychodynamic therapy, harm reduction model and motivational interviewing. My focus Although I have experience with many different psychiatric conditions, in private practice I focus on patients with anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders. My communication style I seek to use empathetic communication by being fully present, engaged, and encouraging and attempting to meet the patient where they are at. We curiously explore thoughts and emotions in a safe, non-judgemental, and compassionate space where possibility of change can be fostered. My goals for you I have a collaborative goal setting approach in which I work in partnership with the patient to identify goals and values that are meaningful to them. I seek to prioritize and break down goals into smaller, more manageable steps to highlight strengths and successes.
