About
Whether you have been in therapy before or this is your first time reaching out for help, congratulations! Life can be challenging and many of us find the need to seek help handling difficulties and making changes in our lives. I have been providing collaborative therapy with clients for many years in the areas of substance use and co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress syndrome, and trauma. I am a compassionate, honest, cheerleader with the gift of encouragement. We will primarily utilize cognitive-behavioral treatment processes to assist you in connecting thoughts and feelings to behaviors and vice versa. The cognitive-behavioral process utilizes talk therapy and incorporates assignments that you can do on your own to help you gain insight and practice new behaviors between sessions. I have an educational background in developmental psychology and attachment theory. I utilize that knowledge to help guide us in the process as well. For example, if someone has experienced trauma during a specific stage of development then there may be some relational difficulties as a result. Having that information is helpful as we work on developing coping skills. I know what it’s like to want to change and the courage it takes to reach out for help. I will help you take that motivation for change and grow it into the best life for you today.
