About

I am Teresa Brooker, a Licensed Professional Counselor in GA and a Life Coach. I have a MS in Counseling and an EDS in Education Leadership. As an integrative, holistic mental health therapist, I firmly believe in the mind/body connection when healing from trauma. I have over 13 years of experience as a mental health clinician and my training includes trauma processing using somatic experiencing, unresolved grief and loss, Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, relationship & attachment issues, mindfulness and meditation practices, amino acid and vitamin therapy, neuroscience psycho-education and am presently working on my Brain Health Coaching Certification from the Amen Clinic (Dr. Daniel Amen, Amen University). I am a Certified Prepare-Enrich Counselor (pre-marital counseling & couple's therapy), and a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator.

I have previously worked with children, adolescents and parents as a teacher, school counselor and school-based therapist in various school settings and as a tele-mental health provider for three years. I started my own private practice 3 years ago and included Coaching as a service I provided. My areas of expertise include trauma processing, Depression, attachment & relationships issues, present grief and loss, unresolved grief and loss, anxiety, panic attacks, low self-esteem and self-confidence issues, social anxiety, rejection sensitive dysphoria, narcissistic abuse, Adult ADHD, Adult Asperger's Syndrome, parenting issues, blended family issues, single parent issues, codependency, and helping individuals, who really don't know who they are, transform their lives through whole-life coaching.

I could go on and on about who I am as a therapist and the work I do and have done with clients. But, I think you'd understand me better if I let you hear what my clients have said about me when asked this one question: "In your opinion, what sets Teresa apart from other therapists?" Here are some of their responses:

•"The first thing Teresa did was build a true relationship with me by accepting me for who I am, making me feel safe and not judged, but supported." ~ Courtney

• "She's able to see things other therapists have not and helped me get to the root of my problems." ~ Emilie

•"Teresa empowered me with tools for resiliency and helped me believe in myself so much so that life-long barriers were removed and I finally achieved my goals." ~ Erwin

•"She taught me how to have meaning and connection in my most, intimate personal relationships." ~ Thomas

•"Teresa's a very, powerful motivator who always leaves me feeling encouraged after every session and HOPEFUL for my future." ~ Vik

•"I was emotionally and mentally overwhelmed with life when I came to Teresa. I was battling anxiety, anger, guilt, shame and exhausted from parenting a child with behavioral issues. She worked with me to develop effective strategies and implement different approaches when parenting my child with ADHD." ~ Jasmine

•"Teresa made me feel comfortable discussing my problems without judgement. My relationship with my children has improved tremendously since being with her. I am
now a better mother!" ~ Carmen

•"When I first came to Teresa, I was experiencing anxiety and panic attacks so badly that I ended up in the emergency room. After working with her now for almost three years, I have learned to capture my thoughts by cultivating mindfulness practices into my life and as a result, my anxiety and panic disorder are gone and I am a new man! ~ Steven

As you can see, I work hard to build strong, trusting therapeutic relationships in a judgement-free zone with ALL of my clients. My goal in therapy is make you feel safe accepted for who you are, and supported throughout your therapy journey. I love my work as a therapist because I really enjoy helping people feel better by helping change their lives. I will work with you to help you uncover the root or underlying cause of your mental health issues and provide you with practical tools to help you manage your life. I would love to work with you so you can start feeling better as soon as possible. Life is too short Rather than spending your days feeling worried, anxious, or depressed, let's start working together so you can begin enjoying the life that you deserve because You are worth it!
