Hello, My name is Tekla Barrett. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I use a client-centered, strengths-based, non-judgmental approach with a focus on mindfulness. My style is direct, honest, and expressive and there is a lot of back and forth in the sessions. We will work in collaboration to explore the best options for you. I am an open-minded, empathetic, genuine person and this applies to my therapy approach. I have experience working with individuals of all ages, couples and families. Prior to my career as a therapist, I lived and worked in France and Spain for a decade while traveling the world. This gave me the opportunity to experience different cultures, helping me to be more culturally sensitive. Some of the areas I specialize in, but not limited to are; anxiety, domestic violence, individuals/couples struggling with fertility issues, IVF, miscarriage, post-partum depression and grief. I also work with children and adolescents. Therapy sessions with me are a space for you to fully be yourself and discover what you can become in a safe, supportive, confidential environment. I work to build an authentic, trusting relationship with you and aim to embody warmth, optimism, curiosity and empathy. I look forward to meeting you.
