I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Idaho with over 14 years of clinical experience. My expertise has included working with severe and persistent mental illness in inpatient and outpatient settings, crisis therapy, and providing testimony for commitment hearings as an expert witness. I have experience dealing with trauma, PTSD, Depression, Adjustment Disorders, Grief and Loss, Career issues, Addiction, LGBTQ and or gender identity, and other issues. I have worked with people of all ages and from all walks of life. My unique background and life experiences have prepared me to work with clients as a partner and facilitator in an accepting and caring way.
My work in clinical settings has given me a strong foundation for understanding diagnosis, personality traits and building a framework of treatment from a bio-psycho-social underpinning. I approach treatment using a variety of tools based on your needs such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance therapy, solution focused therapy, active listening, and mindfulness. We will identify core beliefs, set long term and short-term goals, and break down how to get there.
My past clients have described me as caring, empathetic, easy to talk to, and inspiring. I have shared some of my own personal struggles where appropriate as an example that we all have difficulties, but that it’s all about how we choose to handle these obstacles. My approach has been influenced by the teachings and writings of Carl Jung, Iyanla Vanzant, Brene’ Brown, Don Miguel Ruiz, and many others. My personality is colorful and eclectic while caring and warm.
When I am not working, I enjoy playing with my two huskies, being creative through music or art, and practicing or performing American Tribal Style dance. I am married with two girls who are full of energy and we are always on the go from one adventure to the next.
