About
I’m so glad you are here.
Counseling can be scary and often intimidating, but I’m here to be your guide. My role isn’t to tell you what to do, how to do it, or who to do it with… I’m here to help you find your way to all those things!
That first communication can be overwhelming, so you may start here exploring our website to learn about us.
You may need to think about it before you reach out. Maybe you’ll send an inquiry and then need to think about it. It’s all up to you and on your time!
You’ll find that we aren’t your traditional, TV-show style therapy office.
While there are often a lot of questions about me, this practice, and the team (all of which I will answer), I want to stress that your time is about you and your needs. Counseling is to meet the goals that you have.
We encourage you to have tissues because you may cry… or have a runny nose.
We often wear pants and, 9 times out of 10, with flip flops because we want to be comfortable – quite honestly, we end up sitting on the floor or a yoga ball with you. We hope you will be comfortable for your sessions too!
So what is it that I do?
I love being hands-on with experiential therapy by utilizing play, sand, art, and animal-assisted work. We can incorporate this into our work virtually too!
As the practice owner, I also manage the office and personally hire each therapist to meet the needs of our clients, thus allowing us to see ages 2 through 92! We have been working with families here since 2006.
So what does the alphabet soup after my name mean?
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida (LCSW). I’m a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and a Certified Animal Assisted Play Therapist™ (CAAPT). Added to each of those is an “S,” as I also love teaching and building up future therapists, so the fancy way to write my name is Tara Moser, LCSW, RPT-S, CAAPT-I.
The Animal Assisted Play Therapy™ is often intriguing. My original canine partners were actively involved in my training and helped many children and families both in the office, at schools, and with some crisis response. Abbey and Bode created a legacy that lives on in the 7 dogs currently certified or training to become certified in our office (three are mine) and our office hamster!
The animal work is also what fostered my founding of my non-profit, Pawsitive Kids Camp that is offered during school breaks for kids and local foster dogs!
I love giving back and am involved as a volunteer in many capacities through animal rescue and my professional organizations. This includes statewide leadership, local leadership, social media management, and workshops.
