About

Hi there, I'm Tara! Nice to meet you, I'm Tara! My name is Tara McDaniel and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Ventura County, California and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults, adolescents and children and specialize in adjustment challenges, family dynamics, depression, anxiety, school and behavior challenges, interpersonal difficulties, relational challenges, self esteem, and women's issues, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strength Based Approaches, Person Centered Therapy and a well rounded Eclectic style to meet you where you are, and collaborate with you on starting to feel better and make progress towards change. My approach My approach is eclectic, but can be more specific as needed. My approach varies based on the individual needs of each client that I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, aspects of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Attachment Theory, to help create a sense of awareness and understanding and allow us to work together on moving towards change. My focus I have found my style and approach has been a great fit for a variety of clients, adults, teens and children who experience challenges of life, social changes and pressure. Often, this looks like depression, anxiety, loneliness, low self esteem, stress in various aspects of life, family challenges and relationship barriers. I work with you to help you build the needed skills and tools to navigate these changes and challenges, to feel better, create changes, and experience a more positive outlook. My communication style My communication style is calm, personable and accommodating. I want my clients to feel comfortable and connected with me, and I take pride in my nonjudgemental listening. My journey to therapy I decided to become a therapist because I have a genuine interest in helping others and seeing individuals become the best version of themselves.
