About
A life that is trauma or drama-free is often based on fairy tales. Real people have real problems, and a happily ever after is not achieved without examining the details of our story. Let’s face it – until we understand our ‘who’ and ‘what,’ we’ll never truly understand our ‘why’ and ‘how.’ Once we open up to the process, we can then begin creating a new and more meaningful narrative to promote growth in the direction of our happily ever after. Happily ever after comes after work, and that is usually work that we need to do to heal our past. Sharing the most intimate details of your life is scary, and a therapist that you cannot relate to or that cannot understand your cultural background adds to the fear. I endeavor to hold a safe and supportive space for the gentle exploration of your story while we walk through discomfort toward healing, forgiveness, and acceptance. I specialize in treating individuals and couples experiencing: trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, microaggressions, marital/partnership issues, communication and trust-related concerns, work and entrepreneurial-related stress, and life transitions. I hold a Master's of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Central Michigan University and am in the process of completing my Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counseling credential. I am an eclectic, trauma-informed, EMDR, and Brainspotting clinician with extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy – a modality that teaches mindfulness skills to help individuals live and behave in ways consistent with personal values while developing psychological flexibility. I am also a PREPARE-ENRICH facilitator – an evidence-based program for couples counseling (dating, premarital, and married). I believe a strong therapeutic base is important in therapy, and that begins with developing a relationship –with empathy, compassion, and real-life experience are all the bridges to trust and alliance.
