Hello! Thank you for checking out my profile. I am Tammy Whitman, a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over 16 years of clinical practice experience. I have provided therapy to individuals, couples and families with a wide variety of concerns. I am also a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, which included education in career counseling. I also hold both of these licenses (LMFT & LPC) in the State of Arizona. Previous to my Master’s degree, I worked several years assisting people in securing employment that fit their education, interests and desires. I believe that I have the skill set to be a productive therapist for you. I have found that using the Cognitive Behavioral approach is a good fit for many people. In this approach, we will examine the types of thoughts you are thinking, and how those thoughts affect your feelings and actions. The goal is to change negative thinking into more realistic, positive thoughts which will improve feelings and created more balanced and healthy behaviors. However, I would like to get to know you better and use the approach that best fits you. Some of the other approaches that I have found to be successful include Strengths-Based, Motivational Interviewing and Humanistic. In our sessions, you will see that I use a team approach. You have the knowledge and insight to become your best self. I am here to help you bring your knowledge and insight to the surface, where you can use it to recognize how you are impacting your life and more wisely choose the next steps that you want to take. You bring a unique set of beliefs, values and culture to this experience. I provide a safe, warm and accepting environment where you can feel comfortable to be yourself and ask for help.
