About

Tamara Hagy-Lopez is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience working with children, teens, parents, adults, and families in a variety of clinical and school settings. Tamara's focus is on building a safe and validating environment that allows families and individuals to increase self-awareness and helps them create a narrative that supports their growth. My approach Asking for help takes courage and I believe in meeting everyone exactly where they are without judgment while allowing them to share their story. Everyone has a story and often needs to share that story to be able to start on their own path to healing and explore what they would like to change and/or accept in their lives. I have an eclectic style and use a mixture of Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, Solution Focused Therapy, Art therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Trauma Informed and Mindfulness Techniques. My focus The majority of my career has been working in clinics, school settings and working with children and the adults in their lives with behavioral problems, anxiety, and depression. I have also worked a lot with families who have lost loved ones to addiction and incarceration. Conditions I feel comfortable working with are depression, women's life challenges, life transitions, mid-life problems, interpersonal issues, PTSD, trauma, anxiety, parenting, mood disorders, anger management, blended families, adoption, and underserved populations. My communication style I focus on getting to know the client first while staying focused on compassion, active and reflective listening, checking in throughout the session, and staying engaged during the session. I work to help people move forward while staying focused on the process of one step at a time.
