Hello! My name is Sydney and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that promotes healing, nurturing an authentic self-image and strengthening relationships.

Your mental health affects all aspects of functioning in your work, family, social and romantic life. It can be difficult to manage your different roles when dealing with barriers such as difficulty managing anxiety, the stress of being a working professional, racial fatigue with being the only person of color in the workplace or the pressures of maintaining healthy relationships. You need a safe space, free of judgment to work through it all. I am here to offer that space and empower you to pull on the strengths you already have to adjust to life’s inevitable challenges.

I take a trauma-informed and strength-based approach to counseling, tailored to your unique needs. I may utilize various modalities to care that will aid you in managing difficult emotions, experiences and/or relationships. However, I will communicate with you what methods are showing up in the therapeutic space and ask for your feedback. You and I will collaborate together on the focus of sessions so that you are comfortable with your treatment goals. It is most important that you have a voice in your care!

I am a Chicago-native and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Master of Social Work. I am the owner of Black On Black Therapy PLLC, an online therapy practice supportive of sensitive souls, LGBTQIA+ affirming, body positive and social justice oriented. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, yoga, hiking and traveling.
