About

A very warm welcome to you!

My name is Suzi Benoit, and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Maine. I have worked as a School Social Worker, a Behavioral Health Specialist in a Hospital Emergency Room, Social Work educator and grief counselor. I have worked with folks of all ages experiencing loss; life transitions; work-related challenges; emotional abuse; difficulty setting boundaries; communication and many more. We would begin by talking about your goals for our work and what brings you into care today.

My decision to work in this field comes from a desire to reduce suffering, a belief in second chances and everyone’s ability to make positive changes in their lives. Guiding my clients’ process through deep grief is a privilege. No matter how discouraging things may seem, every day is a new opportunity for healing. I have experienced significant trauma and life challenges so the empathy I feel for my clients is genuine. I have worked hard on my own mental and emotional health in my life and know that though it can sometimes feel daunting, this work is one of the most rewarding experiences we give ourselves.

Whether you experience workplace trauma, the loss of a loved one or struggling with an upsetting relationship issue, we can start by developing trust in our therapeutic relationship and take small steps at first. I will get to know you through thoughtful questions for a clear understanding of your goals for therapy. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am trained to see the human value, dignity and strengths in everyone. I know you can work toward achieving your goals, moving forward at your comfortable pace.

Though I have expertise, I do not see myself standing apart from you in an ivory tower. It is important that you see me as a caring, fellow flawed human being with the expertise to support your journey to a more serene, less anxious way of living. My style is warm, supportive and welcoming no matter the challenges you face. My empathetic approach will affirm your feelings and reassure you that you are not alone. You will never be required to share or do anything in therapy that would violate our trusting relationship. You must feel safe and comfortable to share your worries so you can move forward towards enhanced emotional and mental health.

Should you choose to move forward, I will enjoy meeting you and learning how I can be helpful to you.

I wish you the best.
