About

Hello.
My name is Suzanne and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.  I have worked in the helping profession all of my adult life.  Interestingly, I have taken a rather non-traditional career path over years of working first as a Neuropsychometrist, then as a Small Business Owner and finally returning to school for completing a Master's Degree in Counseling.  I am grateful for the variety of life-experiences in both the public and private sectors which have equipped me with a unique set of skills, wealth of knowledge and a clinical expertise to assist others in developing life changes toward a future of health and well-being.

While I am a seasoned professional, I try to combine both empathy and authentic humanness in my approach to therapy and the working relationship.  I am a firm believer in that the first step toward change begins with a conscious decision to do so.  The next step is in establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.  The results can be rewarding and  self-fulfilling.

My counseling style combines strength-based, solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral approaches as well as being able to tailor treatment needs in order for each individual to accomplish their chosen therapy goal.  My practice includes working with adults (ages 21 - 90) who are living with grief and loss, symptoms of depression, anxiety, life transition uncertainty, career/work concerns, relational issues and so forth.  My specialty areas have broadened to working with individuals living with mild-traumatic brain injury (m-TBI), mood disorders (BiPolar disorder), eating disorders (preparing for bariatric surgery), and the family members or friends of individuals who carry an addiction disorder.

Because change can be unsettling and uncomfortable at first, it requires both assurance and encouragement when taking those initial apprehensive steps.  I consider my role to be the one who can respectfully and gently guide, support and reinforce those steps toward healthy and heartfelt change.

I welcome the opportunity to meet and work with you.
With Kind Regard,
Suzanne
