About

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan and have been working as a School Counselor and Coach for 25 years. I have worked with students, parents, co-workers, athletes, and clients with a wide variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, peer relationships, intimate relationships, parenting, LGBTQ concerns, and workplace issues. My experience includes working with students and athletes on issues surrounding school and athletics such as motivation, stress, and problem solving. I have also worked for years with parents and students in the areas of career and college planning, test/school anxiety, and other school based issues. As a high school and college coach, I am interested in working with coaches at a variety of levels on areas of team building, motivation, and improvement of the mental side of sport.

My counseling approach is Cognitive Behavioral which means that we will work together to gain a better understanding of your mindset and ways of thinking, your behaviors and how they affect your life, and your coping mechanisms. We will work to develop better communication skills, a greater sense of self-confidence, and ways to face your fears. My style is casual, warm, and interactive. Your unique and individual needs will drive our work together. I am a down-to-earth and realistic counselor and I apply that approach with my clients. Part of my philosophy includes the importance of incorporating nature and the outdoors to improving our mental state. Healthy living habits are essential in developing and managing a positive outlook on life.
