About

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been in practice in California for 15 years. I completed my master's degree in 2006. I have worked in several different setting since then, both as an Intern and licensed psychotherapist. I have also been in private practice for a number of years. During that time, I have worked with groups and individuals struggling with many different mental health issues, as well as grief, illness, and life's inevitable challenges. Additionally, I have assisted people who are working on both improving or dissolving their intimate relationships and want to learn a better way of communicating.

In addition, I teach a series of classes entitled Healing and the Art of Conscious Evolution, which I have taught for nearly 30 years. My classes are spiritual in nature, though not religious. They examine issues related to victim consciousness and how this prevents us from ascending into what I call higher consciousness, which is a more expanded way of seeing the world. The classes also focus on teaching people how to heal trauma, shame, low-self-esteem, depression, anger, anxiety, addictive behaviors, self-sabotage, etc. Many of the concepts from these classes will be introduced during the therapeutic session, creating a lot of food for thought, which will greatly accelerate the process.

Because it is my experience that unforgiveness saps one's psychic energy and creates many mental and emotional blockages that lead to physical illness, the ultimate goal of therapy will always be forgiveness of self and others, for until forgiveness is achieved, shame and grievances will continue to be heavy burdens to bear. I prefer to work with people who are highly motivated to heal themselves and who have a spiritual orientation in life. A desire to have a closer walk with their higher power, by whatever name they call that, is also essential.

My style is warm, caring, thoughtful and straight forward. I believe in treating people with respect and dignity, no matter what circumstances have brought them into therapy. Because people aren't taught the skills needed to emotionally and spiritually evolve, I believe that we are all doing the best we can with the consciousness we have now, and that as we evolve, we do better. I also believe that we live in very challenging times and that everyone needs a helping hand on occasion. Without teachers and mentors, it is very difficult to evolve.

As the two of us examine your goals for therapy, as well as the obstacles that stand in your way, we can come up with a plan designed to maximize your healing potential. Some people do well with talk therapy alone, while others who enjoy trancework, do well with hypnotherapy, which I am also skilled in. I believe that this is the fastest way to heal trauma once the educational ground-work for emotional and spiritual healing is laid. It takes knowledge to heal one’s self, as well as the willingness to do it. It also requires an excellent teacher or mentor to guide you on your journey. This mentor must have walked the path before you, for one must have healed themselves before they can help others through the process. I have done this healing work for many years now. Through education, willingness, and an excellent mentor, healing is just a matter of setting your course and sticking with it. In the end, you will develop a very close and intimate relationship with your higher power whom you will come to rely on in every way as your ultimate guide, teacher, and friend.

My approach to therapy blends education with emotionally-centered therapy that allows one to not only feel and express their deeper feelings, but to also discover feelings they did not know they had. By becoming mindful of the beliefs, thoughts, feelings and attitudes that trigger unwanted self-sabotaging behaviors, one can eventually develop strategies for creating profound behavioral change, which must be the end result of all therapeutic work. Through self-examination and inner work, one comes to understand what it means to be a spiritual being who has incarnated into a very challenging material world. By developing the skills of self-mastery and then raising these skills into an art form, one becomes victorious in the game of living life as a fully self-aware, authentic human being that is rarely flustered by life's circumstances. If you are truly ready to heal yourself, I would be honored to facilitate your journey.

I look forward to working with you!
