Hello! My name Steven Nurkin and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I have over 12 years of experience working with as a therapist helping people achieve their goals and overcome challenges. I began my counseling career working with people diagnosed with HIV, with a focus on helping people confront substance abuse and other compulsive behavioral issues, depression, anxiety, career challenges, mood disorders, and intimacy/relationship/co-dependency issues. I've had the honor of working with a variety of clients a number of settings and employing a number of therapeutic approaches, including client-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapy. I always look to take a collaborative approach working with people by asking them to define what their goals might be in therapy and how to best measure progress. By understanding the complete social and contextual environment in which my clients reside, I'm better skilled at helping clients discover individualized solutions and strategies to overcome challenges.
