Hello, its's nice to meet you! My name is Steve and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over three years of experience providing therapy services. I have worked with adolescents, adults, and couples in both a low-income setting as well as my group private practice in Charleston, SC. I work with clients affected by depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship challenges.

Originally from southern Illinois, I moved to South Carolina during the summer of 2012. I received my undergraduate degree in Journalism at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Webster University in Charleston, SC.

My approach to therapy is mostly client centered, which means I believe clients have the solutions for their troubles contained within themselves and need only a safe space to explore and discover them. Clients are in the driver's seat for therapy and I am there to help them discover the direction they would like to go. I use mostly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist clients in exploring relationships among their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This in turn helps clients become more aware of their dysfunctional thought patterns, which lead to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. I help you set realistic goals to help you improve behaviors and get closer to the life you would like to lead.

Outside of my work as a therapist, I am an avid trivia fan/player, enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my black lab/terrier (CoCo), as well as traveling.
