About
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio with 12 years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked with individuals ages birth (yes, birth!) to adult, all with their own unique presentation of symptoms and challenges, including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, mood and personality disorders, chronic illness, eating disorders, relationship and family issues, trauma, and parenting issues.
My training and career opportunities have taken me to a variety of settings and I initially began work in hospitals doing federally funded psychological research. I quickly realized though that it was the more clinical aspects of the field that held my interest and I switched my focus to consist solely of counseling. I've worked in preschool school classrooms with traumatized children ages 3 to 5 years, in home environments with infants and parents with either attachment or depression issues, in outpatient community mental health agencies with children, adolescents and adults, and most recently in private practice and schools where I advocate for more mental health resources and services for both students and teachers alike. Individual counseling, couples counseling, group counseling, family counseling...you name it, I've done it!
When working with a client, my style and approach is first and foremost a collaborative one. We are a team! Using cognitive-behavioral and humanistic techniques, with some solution-focused, multi-systemic and reality therapy thrown in, we'll lay out what's bothering you and what led you to reaching out to Find A Therapist and then together come up with goals and plans to help you get to a better place. What I can promise from my end is timely and attentive communication that is both respectful and open-minded, constructive and fair. Recognizing you need assistance and asking for help is more than half the battle and I'm looking forward to making the rest of the journey with you.
