About

Hi! My name is Stephanie Morton and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. My approach to therapy is conducted from a person-centered perspective to give each individual the feeling of being in control of their journey. I work mostly with clients who experience anxiety and depression. My approach In my practice, I place a strong emphasis on the Cognitive/Behavioral approach during sessions to help clients become aware of and learn how their thoughts affect their actions. In addition, I also place a strong emphasis on feelings to help clients understand how to interpret their experiences based on the emotion presented at the moment. This helps clients understand how an experience is affecting them based on that emotion to help them move towards processing the steps towards solutions that offer relief. My focus I often work with clients that have a history of unresolved trauma that occurred during childhood. As a result of the longstanding effects of the trauma, clients present to me feeling overwhelmed with their emotions and an inability to control their thoughts. I work on helping these clients process their trauma to challenge their perception of the event(s) to change to help with resolving the initial emotional reaction and replacing it with a less triggering feeling. My communication style I am a very positive and happy person. During my sessions, I offer a very relaxed-style type of environment to help each individual feel comfortable with sharing their private and personal information. I'm also very self-aware of my thoughts and feelings and if ever feel as though I may have said something that can be taken personally, I will apologize and provide understanding to help clients process any emotions that may have triggered to avoid creating a mistrusting relationship
