About

Hi there! My name is Stephanie Knott and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), as well as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I have six years of counseling experience, and have been working in some sort of mental health related job since 2013.

I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns including (but not limited to): depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, mood disorders, substance-use issues, career challenges, PTSD (including physical trauma and emotional abuse), grief-related concerns, and ADHD. I have experience working in community mental health clinics, substance abuse treatment (inpatient and outpatient), inpatient behavioral health units, medical clinics, and within the criminal justice systems.

My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered Therapy, and Integrative/Holistic Therapy. Since I graduated from a seminary, I also have training and experience working with individuals that may have questions/concerns regarding their religion and spirituality in a non-judgmental, open manner (only if this is something the individual wants to explore). I approach each client in a respectable, compassionate manner and view everyone as a unique expert on his/her own life (you know yourself better than I do), and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I consider myself a warm and empathetic person and will collaboratively work hard with each person to achieve treatment goals, but will also encourage self-sufficiency and autonomy. Unfortunately, I cannot obtain your goals for you, but I can help to guide you along the way and offer evidence-based practices that can assist with symptoms and struggles. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

You have taken a courageous and difficult first step to seek out help in your time of need, and if you are ready to take the next step to begin change then I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!
