My name is Stephanie Avina. I am a Licensed marriage family therapist. I specialize in working with trauma, suidication, anxiety, depression, and working with children. My approach My therapy approach stems from psychodynamic and CBT techniques with the integration of play therapy and mindfulness in order to provide a holistic approach. I look forward to working with you; together we can create a treatment plan that keeps your strengths, personal goals, cultural and spiritual values in mind. My focus My goal is to provide a safe, fun, and comfortable environment where individuals, children and adolescents, can explore their feelings and overcome their challenges, whatever they may be. My goal is to work my self out of a job and give you all the tools and resources you need and I am just a phone call away when needed. My communication style I have a very laid-back style. I meet you where you are at, and together we work together to create a treatment plan that works for you My journey to mental healthcare I love creating that ah-ha moment where everything clicks and then all the pieces start to fall together. I became interested in psychology when my ex-husband was diagnosed with PTSD when he was in the military. I saw firsthand how it not only affected him but those around him. And now I want to help others. My goals for you Sometimes I may have you work on homework outside of the session so you get the full benefit in session outside of here. We work on goals collaboratively. My first session with you The first session is a lot of questions to get to know one another, you may even have questions for me. I get to know your family background, what brings you in today, how you have managed your problem so far, and what you would want to achieve out of therapy.
