About

My name is Stacey Harlan (and I am a male Stacey!) I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a major focus on dealing with depression and anxiety. My approach My approach to therapy is to strive to facilitate a positive, solution-oriented approach that focuses on cultivating psychological growth and progress. It is my desire to not merely "deal with" depression and anxiety but to gradually replace those emotions with a sense of adventure, enjoyment, and a deepening sense of discovery about the meaning of what it is to be alive. My focus I typically work with adult clients who are dealing with depression and anxiety as well as substance abuse problems. I also am happy to work with adolescents who are motivated to participate in the therapeutic process. My communication style Clients typically feel an easy-going, relaxed environment when speaking with me. They feel that they are discovering something about themselves and that they are free to say anything. My journey to therapy Therapy for me is actually a second career--I began my occupational adventure as an attorney. After practicing law for 14 years, I came to the conclusion that I was more interested in exploring psychological problems with people than legal and financial problems. Practicing as a therapist has provided me with a great opportunity to learn about human nature, realistic problem-solving, and what it takes to facilitate psychological progress. I have worked as a therapist for 30 years and have felt a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to ask many clients the question: "What brings you here?" My goals for you Goal setting is a process that is constantly evolving. My first desire is to facilitate within my clients the ability to articulate their objectives (both major and minor) and then to work on bringing those objectives into as clear a focus as possible.
