Hi, my name is Sheryl Torres. I'm a LCSW and I have a calling as a therapist to help those in need. The client-therapist connection is a key component of a client's success in therapy. I focus on helping clients heal from traumas and reduce their any anxious and depressive symptoms. My approach As an EMDR-trained therapist with an existential therapeutic orientation, my main focus is to help you overcome your struggles and lead a more meaningful life. My focus I specialize in working with Individuals (teens and adults). I enjoy working with these individuals and also encourage families to partake in sessions as needed to ensure continuity of care in the home. As an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist, I focus on first helping a client clear large or small traumas that may affect their daily living and relationships. Then I reinforce the healing and coping skills gained, by using CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). My communication style As an existential therapist, I encourage my clients to reach their full potential and strive for their purpose in life. I've had clients and colleagues say I have a warm and kind demeanor and can see the best in people, even before they can see it in themselves. When you work with me you will have that support person who treats you with unconditional positive regard. My journey to therapy I was initially drawn to the helping professions when I saw the need in my friends, family, and community for mental health services. This is not just a career for me but a vocation that I was created to do. My innate gifts allow me to connect with others on a level where I can recognize and help develop their strengths. My hope is to make a positive impact on the world one person at a time. My goals for you Goal setting in therapy is so fundamental to the client's success. As your therapist, I would need your input and full agreement on the goals of therapy in order to make the therapeutic process most beneficial.
