Hello!
I am a licensed clinical social worker in New Jersey and have been working as a licensed therapist since 2007. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master's Degree in Social Work. I have since specialized in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, complicated grief situations and earned an additional license as a Clinical Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Additionally I received extensive post graduate training in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, EMDR, dialectical behavior therapy and solution focused therapy. I teach relaxation tools: deep breathing, mindfulness, progressive muscle relaxation, simple meditation techniques as a way to help clients decrease anxiety and sleep problems. My approach to providing therapy is client centered along with a strong sense of empathy and unconditional positive regard. In private therapy I have worked with many clients experiencing family problems, occupational problems, mid life crisis, marital/relationship issues and parenting problems. I like to bring levity and a bit of humor in sessions and I try not to take myself too seriously. However, I do take my clients and their needs very seriously. I was a late bloomer; after raising four children I returned to college and earned my MSW. Being older brings confidence and added experience to my practice. I help my clients through active listening, collaboration and mutual problem solving. I ask to give advice and try to help my clients form their own solutions through support, being present and listening to their concerns. I have found through the years that seeking help promotes healing, decreases stress and people learn to live more fulfilling lives.
