About
Hi,
My name is Shereva Lewis, LPC and welcome to my profile. I am currently a doctoral student at the University of Holy Cross, studying Counselor Education. I have earned a Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern University A&M College in 2017. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#7202) with the Licensed Professional Counselor Board of Examiners, which is located at 11410 Lake Sherwood Avenue North, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 (p:225-295-8444).
Focus: My interests include working within children and adults and the mental health issues that relate to those individuals including but not limited to depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship and family of origin issues, and other behavioral issues. I am also experienced in interventions related to substance abuse and domestic violence. If your issues are in an area that I do not feel qualified to treat, I will discuss this with you and attempt to refer you to a professional who is better qualified to work with you.
The counseling session is your time to discuss your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The counseling process is an extremely personal and challenging process of which you decide what the goals are. My job is to reflect, provide feedback, and support any positive decisions that you decide to make. Although counseling is an extremely personal experience, it is important to realize that our relationship is a professional rather than a personal one. This means that our time together will be limited to the scheduled sessions that you have with me. I believe that you will be best served if our relationship remains focused on your concerns.
Services Offered and Clients Served: I offer counseling services for adults, children, and families. I use an integrated approach that includes existentialism, cognitive behavioral therapy, and family structural therapy and narrative therapy. In addition to helping clients find meaning in their lives, my goal is to help clients identify and replace unhealthy, irrational beliefs with healthy, rational beliefs aimed at fulfilling their needs and meeting their goals. I also approach counseling from a Narrative perspective in that I will help clients create a new story for their lives through exploration of both the impact of the problem on the clients and what they are doing to reduce the effects of the problem. Various other perspectives and strategies are used based on the client’s individual issues and needs, as well. I work with clients in a variety of formats, including individually, as couples, and in groups. I work with individuals of all ages and religious/spiritual backgrounds with all types of mental health concerns.
Please feel free to reach out, I am here for you!
