About
I am a counselor, wife, daughter, sister, fur-baby momma, and fellow human being.
I'm here today to help you, because someone was there to help me when I needed it the most.
I will empower you put the past behind you, manage your day-to-day struggles, and, ultimately, to create the future life you have always dreamed of.
I will not judge you.
I will journey alongside you.
I will help you move from self-loathing to self-love, from dis-empowerment to empowerment, from pain to healing, from past to present, from misunderstood to understood, from stuck to unstuck, and from "not mattering" to "mattering."
You don't have to stay "stuck" any longer.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in the State of Texas. I hold a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio and Bachelors degree in Psychology and Addictive Disorders and Recovery Studies from Texas Tech University.
While attending UTSA, I was awarded and completed the Minority Fellowship Program in Addictions Counseling by the National Board of Certified Counselors Foundation (NBCCF), where I committed to providing services for underserved and never-served “minority” populations. I was also trained in providing Neurofeedback and biofeedback services, served as the President of the Neurofeedback of Society of UTSA, and was awarded the Judith Lubar Scholarship by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA).
I have worked in the field of mental health since 2009, when I started my career as a Special Education Teacher for students experiencing behavioral and mental health concerns. I have worked in multiple settings throughout her career in mental health, including employment as an advocate and counselor at the Rape Crisis Center for children, teens, and adults; field researcher for the National Drug and Alcohol Study, and Behavioral Health Specialist for adu in the Greater Denver Metro Area. I have journeyed alongside fellow humans in residential and outpatient centers who are seeking recovery from mental health concerns, including post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, and substance use.
I am trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and enjoys utilizing this evidence-based, mind-body therapeutic modality to help clients experiencing anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and other forms of “disturbance” in their lives.
I currently serve on a committee with NAADAC (The Association for Addiction Professionals) to advocate for the needs of and services for humans who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially in the times of a global pandemic.
