Hello, I am Dr. Shabu Varghese, and I practice evidence-based therapeutic and counseling approaches approved by the American Psychological Association, sensitive to clients' cultural and moral values. My counseling approach focuses on creating a client-specific balance between reality and hope. My practice depends on treatment modalities that are empirically tested and proven to be the most effective counseling methods primarily focussing on the Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic approach. Flexibility to treatments entirely based on client characteristics will be of paramount importance rather than the one size fits all approach followed by agencies in the counseling field. My counseling treatments focus on client progress, tailored treatment for the optimum outcome, and the client's response. My treatment approach is based on establishing trusting therapeutic relationships for the maximum result for my clients. I received my doctorate (Ph.D.) in the Social Work track from the University of Central Florida in 2015 and my master's in social work (MSW) from the University of South Florida in 2001. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) involved in mental health counseling for the last 16 years. I am also a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) with the Florida Certification Board, providing counseling for alcohol and other mood-altering substances. My life journey with the helping profession has been very satisfying to my clients and me professionally. I am also an educator teaching counseling classes for many years. I have a myriad of experiences to help my clientele who face different emergencies and emotional issues in this fast-paced and ever-changing situation in everyday life. I believe in personal strength, and we all can build that to prosper for a better tomorrow. We put trust and work together to thrive on getting the best of us.
