After 20 years of counseling others in the midst of pain and confusion, hurt and loss, Scott still finds mental health therapy the most gratifying work in which to engage. He loves meeting individuals for counseling and considers it a privilege and joy to, somehow, be a part of that person’s journey through difficult times.

After receiving a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Johnson Bible College in 2003, he worked with adjudicated teens with 3 or more felonies in the Mountain View Youth Development Center. Then, as a family therapist, he began working with individuals struggling with co-occurring disorders in an outdoor work-based residential program.

Originally from East Tennessee, Scott Kiser migrated with his wife of 18 years and 4 children to a small town in Southern Illinois. There he served as the Director of Residential Care at the Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services for over 9 years, helping reconcile troubled individuals with their families.

Since 2018, Scott has served as a therapist in his community by treating individuals who struggle with a broad range of mental health problems (i.e. trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, family issues, conflict management skills, self-worth, spiritual issues, parenting roles, marital conflicts/betrayal). Scott’s use of humor, systems theory, trauma focused/strength based perspective, and experiential techniques, have allowed him to witness many grow and change.
