About
I'm a Licensed Mental Health counselor in the state of Florida . I obtained My undergraduate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Catholic University of Santo Domingo in 2004. As part of my education I was an intern at the Padre Billini Psychiatric Hospital where we provided counseling to chronically mentally ill individuals over a one year time period. I also completed her Thesis dissertation on the emotional characteristics of abandoned street children in the city of Santo Domingo. Upon arriving in Florida I became a non-residential counselor for Lutheran Services Florida. My responsibilities included counseling and prevention services for truant, ungovernable and runaway youth as well as their families I also helped many families who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. During My seven years at LSF I became a member of the Collier County Truancy Court as well as the Youth Resource Center. My skills as a bilingual/bicultural counselor were invaluable for providing assessments and counseling to the neediest and at risk families that we assisted.
In the past 15 years I have work as a therapist with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD and ADHD.
My passion and dedication for assisting youth led me to develop skills in another critical mental health area, that of addiction and substance abuse. While obtaining my graduate degree at Hodges University I became an intern at the Hazelden/Betty Ford Foundation and subsequently was employed in their intensive outpatient program. I further developed my addiction counseling skills by providing counseling services to individuals who had received DUI’s within Lee County, through Catholic Charities Diocese of Venice Inc.
I'm also specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR); an evidence-based practice that has been proven as one the most effective treatments of trauma
My counseling approach is both humanistic and empowerment-based. I believe all of us have the capacity to create positive changes in our lives if we are willing to look within to find our own strengths and put them into practice. Offering a safe space for self-exploration and healing has allowed me to witness great personal transformations and resilience for both individuals and families. By reconnecting mind, body, and spirit we can increase our self-awareness and make lasting changes.
I look forward to working with you!
