Hello, my name is Sari Lammivaara, I am a Michigan licensed master social worker with 20 years of full-time experience providing therapy for adults from all walks of life. Just a bit about me: I was born and raised in Northern Europe (Finland) and then moved to the United States at the tender age of 16. After several years of working in fields unrelated to therapy, I finally decided to pursue my true passion of becoming a therapist so that I could help facilitate positive change and healing for others. I received my Master's Degree in social work from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and my Bachelor's Degree from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Even after years of working in this field, I continue to strongly believe that each person is their own best expert, yet ... sometimes is unable to hear one's own voice from all the "noise" around us. I also believe in the statement "Everyone is Recovering From Something" and that each person can benefit from actively working through things that may be holding them back. Whether you are looking to improve your mental health, find clarity, implement solutions, or improve how you relate to yourself/others/life, you will be working towards improving your quality of life, ... and I would be happy to assist. I draw heavily upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and blend them with active listening and therapy tools appropriate to each client's unique strengths, challenges and goals. I believe talking things out is vital to one's wellbeing, and I hope that you will persist.
